Description: (1) IT investment management is a process for linking IT investment decisions to an organization’s strategic objectives and business plans. Generally, it includes structures (including decision-making bodies known as IRBs), processes for developing information on investments (such as costs and benefits), and practices to inform management decisions (such as investment alignment with an enterprise architecture). The federal approach to IT investment management is based on establishing systematic processes for selecting, controlling, and evaluating investments.
(2) Investment Management provides leadership in investment management for DoD Enterprise-level business systems, coordinates the efforts of the DoD 5000 series as it pertains to business systems, and provides Business Transformation Agency input for the Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR).
