Description: Information Assurance (IA) is defined in DoD Directive 8500.1, Information Assurance, dated October 24, 2002, as (measures that protect and defend information and information systems by ensuring their availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and non-repudiation. This includes providing for restoration of information systems by incorporating protection, detection, and reaction capabilities. Enterprise information assurance requirements that support a common capability-base approach for enterprise-wide information assurance services to provide timely, secure, ubiquitous end-user access to business information.
