Congressional Enactment

Type - ICOM Arrow
Description: The DoD portion of the President's Budget, is the basis for the DoD congressional enactment process. In the following nine months (February - October) the President’s Budget will be closely scrutinized, serving as guidance for two major pieces of defense-related legislation: the National Defense Authorization Bill and the Defense/Military Construction Appropriations Bills. Of all the legislative matters before Congress, none is more important nor more political than the review of the President's Budget. It will be examined by 535 members of Congress and hundreds of congressional staffers, each of whom possess their own agendas and priorities. The end product of the enactment process is the Authorization and Appropriations Bills.
