Description: The date that the parties agree will be the starting date for the contract's requirements. Usually, this is the same as the date signed but may be different. For example, the effective date may be delayed to avoid major holidays or to coincide with the availability of funds; it may be post dated to recognize that the contractor started work before the formal agreement was signed.
