Member Uniformed Service Component Type Description Member Uniformed Service Component Type is a specific category of a Member Uniformed Service Branch in which a DoD Military Service member is affiliated. Usage Member Uniformed Service Component Type is used to categorize a DoD Military Service member within a Member Uniformed Service Branch and determine eligibility for several human resources actions. Although the Reserve Component includes the Reserve and Guard, the accepted categories of Component types decompose the Reserve and Guard into separate categories.
