DoD Electronic Data Interchange Person Identifier
Description
DoD Electronic Data Interchange Person Identifier (EDI-PI) is a unique identifier assigned to a person who has a direct Relationship with the Department of Defense (DoD).

Usage
DoD Electronic Data Interchange Person Identifier (EDI-PI) is used to document the unique identifier of a person who has a direct Relationship with the Department of Defense (DoD).

DoD EDI-PI is also used to facilitate electronic Transactions between DoD systems for purposes of person identification and Authentication.

Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) administers the Personnel Data Repository (PDR), a Component of the Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS), in which the DoD EDI-PI is generated.

DoD EDI-PI is not currently known by the person, but is stored on the bar code and integrated circuit chip of a person's common access card (CAC) and can be viewed on the certificates associated with a person's CAC.

DoD EDI-PI may also be referred to as the DoD Identification Number for ID card purposes.
