The Secretary of Defense must consider a member eligible to enter into an Information Assurance Scholarship Retention Program (IASP) agreement if each of the following is true:
- The member is accepted for admission to, or enrolled in, one of the following:
- the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio
- the Information Resources Management College of the National Defense University at Fort McNair in Washington, DC
- the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California
- The member is a graduate student beginning or completing a master's or PhD program.
- The member is a U.S. citizen.
- The member is able to obtain a security clearance.
- The member agrees to remain on Active Duty throughout the course of study.
- The member agrees to an Active Duty service obligation, after the award of the degree, equal to three times the total period of pursuit of the degree for which the member was provided with financial assistance.
- The member is rated at the higher levels of the performance system.
- The member demonstrates sustained quality performance with the potential for increased responsibility. |
