The Service concerned must consider a hospitalized member eligible for Hostile Fire Pay or Imminent Danger Pay for up to three additional months if each of the following is true:
- The member is hospitalized outside of the theater of the combat operation or the combat zone for the treatment of the wound, injury, or illness.
- One of the following is true:
- The member was wounded or injured as a result of hostile action or while in the line of duty.
- The member incurred a wound, injury, or illness in a combat operation or combat zone designated by the Secretary of Defense. |
