The Service concerned must require a member on Active Duty or in the Ready Reserve not on Active Duty to have a Family Care Plan if any of the following is true:
- The member is a single parent with physical custody of a child or children.
- The member is married to a military member and the couple has dependents.
- One of the following is true:
- The member is married with custody or joint custody of a child whose non-custodial biological or adoptive parent is not the current spouse of the member.
- The member bears sole responsibility for the care of children under the age of nineteen.
- The member is responsible for the care of others unable to care for themselves in the absence of the member.
- The member's family circumstances or other personal status is such that the member becomes solely responsible for the logistical (housing, food, clothing, transportation), medical, or financial support of another person. |
