The National Defense Service Medal must be awarded to a member if each of the following is true:
- The member performed honorable service on Active Duty between August 2, 1990 and November 30, 1995.
- Such service was not Active Duty for the sole purpose of undergoing a physical examination.
- Such service was not solely in the Individual Ready Reserve, the Inactive National Guard, the Standby Reserve, or the Retired Reserve for training only, or to serve on boards, courts, commissions, or similar organizations. |
