The Service concerned may award the Armed Forces Reserve Medal to a member only if at least one of the following is true:
- The member was called or ordered to Active Duty on or after August 1, 1990 under Sections 12301 (a), 12302, 12304, 12406, or Chapter 15 of Title 10, United States Code.
- The member volunteered and served on Active Duty on or after August 1, 1990 under Section 12301 of Title 10, United States Code in support of a specific U.S. military operation or contingency designated by the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness.
- Each of the following is true:
- The member performed ten years in a twelve-year period of honorable service in one or more Reserve Components.
- None of the ten years of service includes service for which the Naval Reserve Medal or the Marine Corps Reserve Medal has been awarded. |
