The Service concerned must only consider a person to be education eligible and federally recognized for an original appointment to a grade above the grade of O-2 as a member of the Army National Guard or Air National Guard when one of the following is true:
- The person has a baccalaureate degree from a qualifying educational institution.
- The person will be in a health profession for which a baccalaureate degree is not a condition of the original appointment or assignment.
- The person is an officer in the Alaska National Guard and each of the following is true:
- The officer?s pay grade is O-3 or O-4.
- The officer resides permanently at a location in Alaska that is more than fifty miles from the cities of Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Juneau by paved road.
- The officer is serving in a Scout unit or a Scout supporting unit. |
