OV-5a Operational Activity Decomposition Tree
Name Description
BEA Operational Activity Node Tree The Activity Node Tree is a decomposition diagram that presents BEA Operational Activities in a hierarchy from highest to lowest in a single integrated diagram. The Activity Node Tree displays the proper grouping and decomposition of the Activities. For the BMA, the Operational Activities in the Activity Node Tree represent all of the business and administrative activities for the Manage the Department of Defense Business Mission Area that must be performed to support the warfighter. The top box of the Activity Node Tree diagram is a single Operational Activity that is shown on the Context Diagram (A-0) of the Activity Model. All remaining Activities that appear in the OV-5 Activity Model are arranged in their proper Parent-Child relationships beneath the A-0 activity. Additional Activities (indicated in light blue) that have been decomposed on the Node Tree for which Models do not currently exist, represent initial development work and may be included in future releases of the BEA. These Activities are included to capture the full scope of approved DoD Business Capabilities needed to support investment priority evaluations of modernization proposals.
Logistics Operational Activity Node Tree (Planned/Future Activities) The Logistics Operational Activity Node Tree is a decomposition diagram that presents BEA Logistics Operational Activities in a hierarchy from highest to lowest in a single integrated diagram. The Activity Node Tree displays the proper grouping and decomposition of the Activities. These Logistics Activities are included to capture the full scope of approved DoD Business Logistics Capabilities. For BEA 10.0, the purpose is to inform the Logistics Community on future Activities to be used for establishing a common business structure, portfolio management, and gap analysis.
