Defense Business Standards View
Every Defense Business System needs a Standards Viewpoint that is the set of rules governing the arrangement, interaction, and interdependence of parts or elements of the architectural description. Its purpose is to ensure that a solution satisfies a specified set of operational or capability requirements.

Current DoD guidance requires the Technical Standards portions of models be produced from the DoD Information Technology Standards Repository (DISR) to determine the minimum set of standards and guidelines for the acquisition of all DoD systems that produce, use, or exchange information.

Some systems require Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and the National Security Agency (NSA) guides which are used for the configuration standards for DoD IA and IA-enabled devices/systems. STIGS and the NSA guides can be found at
