The Business Enterprise Architecture (BEA) Architecture Product Guide document describes the methods and modeling conventions for the development
of Capability Viewpoint (CV), Operational Viewpoint (OV), Services Viewpoint (SvcV), Standards View (StdV) , and Systems Viewpoint (SV) models that
will be used in the Office of the Deputy Chief Management Officer (DCMO) for the Department of Defense (DoD) Business Mission Area (BMA) in support of the warfighter.
The document supplies the guidance, rules, and product descriptions necessary for developing work products that comprise the BEA. This document provides
supporting details on how to model relevant architecture products using the BEA Development Methodology.
This document contains content and instructions that are valid for BEA 9.0. An updated version that incorporates changes required due to the new
IRB governance process as described in the
Defense Business Systems Investment Management Process Guidance of June 2012 will be available
with the next informational release of the BEA.
The purpose of the BEA Development Methodology document is to describe the overall process and approach for developing the
Business Enterprise Architecture (BEA), one of the primary tools used to drive transformation within the Department of
Defense (DoD) Business Mission Area (BMA).
The BEA Development Methodology (BDM) is currently under revision to align with processes detailed in the Defense Business Systems Investment
Management Process Guidance from the Office of the DCMO. If you have comments or questions on the new BEA development methodology,
